Charity Water's Mission for Global Clean Water
My story of helpfulness is an organisation called Charity Water, based in New York City but operating worldwide. It was founded by an incredible visionary entrepreneur, Scott Harrison, in response to the fact that one in ten humans on earth do not have easy regular access to clean water. This lack of access significantly negatively affects health, education, and economic development.
Over the last fifteen years, Charity Water has raised more than half a billion dollars and funded almost 60,000 water projects, positively impacting 11 million people, mostly in Africa and Asia. What's amazing about Charity Water is their commitment to full transparency, not just in fundraising and allocation of funds, but also in tracking the progress of projects over time to ensure continued benefit to communities.
The vision of Charity Water is not just to deliver water projects, which is fundamentally important, but to inspire people worldwide to serve their neighbours, especially those who are weak, marginalised, vulnerable, and suffering. Scott's vision challenges all of us to ignite a spirit of generosity that becomes viral and empowers people to help improve the human condition.
