Alan Watson Featherstone's Rewilding Vision
Alan Watson Featherstone founded the award-winning conservation charity, Trees for Life, in 1986. This organization works to restore the Caledonian Forest in the Scottish Highlands.
In the 80s, rewilding and mother trees were not widely discussed topics. However, Alan believed the Glens of Scotland needed rewilding, and he raised over a million pounds to support the cause. This achievement was extraordinary for a 'normal man'.
He demonstrated the transformation of a vast part of the Glens, achieved through creating fences, planting the right trees, and managing deer populations. While common today, these actions were radical at the time.
Alan lives a simple life in Findhorn, embodying a back-to-nature lifestyle. His insight, love, and passion for what he started from nothing is a significant story of hope.
