Inspiring Young Engineers: Isobel Green's Initiative
I am hopeful for the future when I meet young engineers that go the extra mile.
Through the Enchanted Engineers project at Aberdeen Science Centre, I have met Isobel Green, a young engineer who is keen to encourage both incoming graduates in her workplace and also younger people to get involved with engineering.
She has created a science experiment with fun, creative, and beautiful imagery to be used in a public engagement event and also a girl guide science-specific event. Events to encourage underrepresented groups into problem-solving and engineering.
She showed me the science "top trump" cards she had made, taking time to think of an experiment that will be informative and fun. Approaching her own job as a way to teach others from the start rather than thinking "what's in it for me." Well done and thank you, Isobel. We need more like you.
